Riot Quelled At Sierra Conservation Center
Jamestown, CA — A Wednesday evening confrontation between two Hispanics and seven white inmates was quickly quelled by Sierra Conservation Center correction officials.
According to Spokesperson Kenny Calhoun, the disturbance broke out in Dorm 22 of the Calaveras Yard. The cause of the confrontation; a white inmate spilled a glass of water on an Hispanic inmate and failed to apologize. The Hispanic inmate felt he had been disrespected and that ignited the fight.
Those involved have now been placed in the lockup unit. There were no injuries to correction officials and only minor injuries suffered by the inmates.
Calhoun adds that it is not uncommon for such confrontations to occur over an apparent minor incident in prison populations.
