BALDWIN SR., JEX

Jex Baldwin Sr. passed away Wednesday, October 4th in Avalon care Center, Sonora, CA of respiratory failure and pneumonia. Mr. Baldwin was born in Whittier, Los Angeles County, Ca, the son of Birdie (Jenkins) and Frank Jex Baldwin. His family lived in Bellflower, CA most of his childhood, moving to Victorville for several years where they ran The Baldwin Haven Motel and a gas station located on Route 66. He met Lois JoAnn Delger in Audio/Visual class at Excelsior High School. They married on May 9, 1952 in Las Vegas. The were married for 61 years. He became an electrical contractor and ran Baldwin Electric Company for over 50 years and raised four children. They moved to the Sonora area and purchased Phoenix Lake Resort in 1972. They ran the Resort until 1978. He was very involved in the Bellflower and Sonora Lions Clubs and held many offices. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with friends, across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Jex Baldwin (1949), Birdie Baldwin-Hoffmire (1979), sisters, Jacqueline Osborne (2015) and Barbara Coons (2003), and granddaughter, Becki East (2003).He is survived by his children and their spouses, Frank (Darcey) Baldwin, Jr., of Sonora, Darrel (Jennifer) Baldwin of Sparks, NV, Lori (Everett) East of Jamestown, and Deon Peterson of Linden; grandchildren and their spouses, Jex (Toni) Baldwin lll, Ashley Baldwin, Justin Baldwin, Heidi (Sterling) Doak, Andrew Baldwin, Steven Fraser, Trever (Kelsey) East, Elliott (Meridith) Peterson, Leah (Noe) Alonzo; and nine great-grandchildren.
