San Francisco, CA — Californians are seeing a modest decrease in gas prices after enduring record costs in September.

AAA of Northern California says the statewide average price for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded has fallen to $2.92, that´s down 11 cents from last month, and 13 cents lower than the record high of $3.05 set on September 9th.

Analysts say the decrease is due in part to a fall in crude prices and wholesale fuel costs.

AAA reports that prices should further decline if the oil companies can continue to bring hurricane damaged production facilities in the Gulf Coast back on line.

However industry officials are concerned that Hurricane Wilma may disrupt those efforts. Forecasters say the storm could make landfall in Florida by Sunday.
