Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council took time to thank outgoing Sonora City Administrator Melissa Eads for her four years of service at Monday’s meeting, and immediately after, approved a 5-year agreement with Chris Gorsky to step into the role.
We reported earlier that Eads has accepted a position with the City of Dixon, and Gorsky has recently been serving as Sonora’s Assistant City Administrator.
Acknowledging it is a challenging job, ahead of the vote, council member Stephen Opie joked, “No pressure Chris, no pressure.”
To which Councilmember Mark Plummer laughed and responded, “Of course, there is no pressure, because he is up to the job, or we wouldn’t have picked him. I look forward to working with Chris and continuing much of the great work, and projects that we have started over the past two councils.”
After the vote, 5-0, Gorsky stated, “I want to express my sincere appreciation for the trust and confidence that you have placed in me to serve as the next city administrator. It is an honor to take on this responsibility and to work alongside each of you, our department heads, and our dedicated staff, to continue to move Sonora forward.”
Eads will leave the position on November 28, and Gorsky will take over on December 1st. His five-year contract has a starting salary of $185,000.
