Boo and hiss the bad guys and ooo and ahhh the hero and heroine! Magic unfolds in this original play about a greedy wizard who wants Chastity’s gold and Prince Charmin who comes to her aid. Fake mustaches for all at the door!

Matinées doors open at 1pm on Saturdays, with no meal and showtime of 2pm March 14th and 21st. $20 adults, $10 kids 12 and under.

Dinner Show doors open at 5 pm on Friday March 13th and 20th and Saturday March 14th and 21st, $35 adults, $20 kids 12 and under.

Fun for the whole family and sober-date-night for teens.

The Calaveras Volunteer Center and the Valley Springs Optimist Club present the annual melodrama fundraiser at the Veterans Hall in Valley
Springs in March to benefit the Volunteer Center and the many organizations that meet there, including Manzanita Writers Press, The Optimist Club, Grandparents Project, and Girl Scouts.

“Neighbors with different interests and skills come together to produce the Melodrama,” said Marti Crane executive director of the Volunteer Center. “When community comes together magic happens!”

Susan Barich says, “I don’t think the community realizes what a unique gem of a wholesome, kid-sober happening they have created over the last 25 years with this Melodrama.”

“I wish more people would bring their children to the matinee shows,” said Martin Tedder, playwright and actor. “The shows are mostly PG and the closest thing to a live action cartoon. Plus the kids get to interact with the performers. We promise to mess up and are good
with the audience calling us on it.”
