The 50th Annual Pinecrest Run will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Pinecrest Lake, bringing together runners, walkers, families, and community members for a morning of outdoor recreation and celebration.
Hosted by Pinecrest Expedition Academy, the annual event serves as an important fundraiser supporting the school’s project-based academic program, outdoor education opportunities, winter sports and student experiences.
The event begins near the first beach area at Pinecrest Lake. A free, family-friendly fun run will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by the traditional five-mile race at 9:00 a.m. Day-of registration and race number pickup will open at 7:30 a.m.
For 50 years, the Pinecrest Run has welcomed participants of all ages and abilities. The event offers both serious runners and recreational participants an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Pinecrest Lake while supporting local students.
The five-mile course includes scenic forest and lake views, several staffed water stations, and one challenging hill that many participants choose to walk. Awards will be presented after the race to the top three male and female finishers in each age group.
“This event represents so much of what makes Pinecrest special—families, outdoor recreation, tradition, and a community that comes together to support its children,” said Heidi Lupo, founder and executive director of Pinecrest Expedition Academy. “We are especially excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a race that has become such an important part of the Pinecrest community.”
Participants are reminded that Pinecrest Lake is located at approximately 5,600 feet in elevation and should prepare accordingly. Dogs are not permitted in the race start or finish areas.
The Pinecrest Run is held under a special-use permit from the United States Forest Service and Tuolumne County.
Community members are encouraged to participate, volunteer, cheer on runners, or make a donation in support of Pinecrest Expedition Academy.
