What is a healthy rate of weight loss? Why isn’t it good to lose weight quickly?
People don’t gain weight overnight and they aren’t going to lose weight overnight either. A healthy goal is to lose two pounds per week. Cutting out too many calories too quickly will lead to a loss of muscle tissue rather than the adipose tissue (fat). Rapid weight loss can also precipitate gall bladder problems as well as issues of malnutrition. You have to eat; you can’t starve yourself. Spread your calorie intake throughout the day to avoid hunger that will lead to overeating. Eat healthy, reasonably portioned meals including breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner.
