Lightning Caused Fires In Forest

Sponsored by:

Arnold, CA — The storm system that moved through the region late yesterday left behind four lightning caused fires in the Stanislaus National Forest.

All were located in isolated areas of the forest and are less than a ½ acre in size. Three were in the Calaveras Ranger District and one near the Highway 108 corridor.  Forest Service Spokesperson Georgia Dempsey says two of the fires have been contained. The other two are not threatening any homes or structures. More lightning strikes are possible in the region later today, so the Forest Service officials will be actively monitoring the area for new fires.
