In 2010, thirty-three miners had been buried alive in Chile by the catastrophic explosion and collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine. The world watched as an international team worked night and day for two months to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, waited and watched anxiously for any sign of hope that the men survived 200 stories beneath the surface, in the suffocating heat with provisions running low.
