The Columbia Gold Diggers Granny Basketball Team will host a double-header on Sunday November 19th at Columbia Elementary School. At 2 PM you can watch the Gold Diggers take on the Sonora Poppies and then at 3pm they will play the Cal Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit’s team. The admission-by-donation will benefit the Cloverleaf 4-H Club of Tuolumne County.
The Granny Basketball League was created to provide:
- Fun, competitive exercise for women over the age of 50.
- An avenue for charitable giving.
- Wholesome, nostalgic, and sometimes humorous entertainment.
- Recognition for mature women
- A method of preserving the history of six-on-six basketball.
Granny players, referees, scorekeepers and other staff are volunteers and do not receive compensation for their time or expenses.
