Swing the Night Away at Columbia State Historic Park’s 78th Anniversary Big Band Street Dance!
COLUMBIA, CA, May 23, 2024 — Step back in time and celebrate in style! Friends of Columbia cordially invites you to an unforgettable 1940s-themed evening as we commemorate the 78th Anniversary of Columbia State Historic Park. Join us for a night of swing dancing, live music, and nostalgic fun on July 13, 2024, from 6 to 10 PM.

Feel the rhythm and let the tunes of Rod Harris and his Orchestra transport you back to the golden era of swing. As we celebrate 78 years of preserving California’s rich Gold Rush history, this night promises a delightful journey back to the 1940s, capturing the essence of the time when Columbia State Historic Park was established.

Dust off your dancing shoes and don your best 1940s attire for a chance to shine in our dance and costume contests, where fabulous prizes await. The festivities don’t stop there! Engage in a silent auction and raffle, brimming with surprises and opportunities to support Friends of Columbia State Historic Park. Every dollar raised remains here in Columbia, ensuring the continuation of cultural and educational events that bring history to life all year round.

For the best experience, we recommend bringing your own chairs to enjoy the event comfortably. While the event is free for all to attend, we offer exclusive VIP tables for those seeking an elevated experience. For just $100, you and three friends can enjoy reserved seating, refreshments, and a bottle of champagne or wine—perfect for toasting a night of music, dancing and memories.

Friends of Columbia State Historic Park proudly sponsors this unique event. All proceeds will support the preservation of California’s Gold Rush heritage and enrich our community through educational resources, school tours, historical exhibits, interpretive reenactments, restoration projects, and special community events. Your contribution helps keep this vital part of California’s history vibrant and engaging for generations to come.
