It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Redding Meltzer, a vibrant soul who danced through life with joy and grace, leaving a legacy of love and laughter. Arlene entered into eternal rest on October 14, 2024, at the age of 82, in the arms of her loving daughter.

Arlene was a unique spirit known for her quirky sense of humor and her insatiable love for chocolate. Her passion for caring for children was evident in her role as a daycare provider, where she spent her days pouring love and energy into “her babies”, creating a nurturing environment filled with laughter, creativity, and love.

A devoted follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Arlene’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy in ministering to others through the transformative power of dance. Whether leading classes at her church or choreographing joyful performances for special events, she inspired others to express their faith and creativity through movement. Her idiosyncratic personality and effervescent energy made every gathering a celebration, and her infectious laughter could light up any room.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Randall; her daughter, Colette; five devoted grandchildren, Erin, Blade, Kati, Rockio, and Ian; and 8 adoring great grandchildren, Elletra, Nia, Ivy, Sean, Lily, James, Ellie, and Arrow. Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter Christina Alexander Karlsen, grandson Levi Holger Karlsen, parents Aubre and Hazel Bratner Redding, and her brother Jimmy Redding. She also leaves behind a community of friends and fellow church members who were touched by her kindness and infectious spirit.

In honor of Arlene’s fervid life, a celebration of her legacy will be held on November 22, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Family Community Church, 6331 Watt Ave, North Highlands, CA, 95660. Guests are encouraged to wear bright colors. Arlene will be laid to rest next to her Daughter Christina, and her Grandson Levi, on Saturday November 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the Buena Vista Cemetery, 186 Cemetery Lane, Murphys, CA 95247. Directions to the  reception will be provided at the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local Battered Women’s and Children’s shelter.

Arlene Redding Meltzer may have left this earthly realm, but her spirit will forever dance in the hearts of all who knew her.
