Bernie Sanders of Vermont now argues that the Democratic Party suffered losses on Election Day because it was insufficiently hostile to the wealthy. According to the Tax Foundation: in 2022 The top 50 percent of all taxpayers paid 97 percent of all federal individual income taxes, while the bottom 40 percent paid none and 10% paid the remaining 3 percent.
