Good Ol’ Comfort Food!
Amount | Measure | Ingredients |
---|---|---|
4 | lbs | Potatoes |
2 | Tbsp | Sour Cream |
1 1/2 | lb | Ground beef |
1 | Egg Yolk | |
1 small | or 1/2 large | Onion chopped |
1 | tsp | Worcestershire |
Salt & pepper | ||
2 | Tbsp | Butter |
2 | Tbsp | Flour |
1 | cup | Beef broth |
3/4 | cup | Peas |
1 | cup | carrots (I like to use match stick type) |
To prepare:
Quarter up potatoes and boil for about 12 minutes. Meanwhile brown ground beef with onions. Add worcestershire, carrots and salt and pepper to the meat. Cook on medium heat another 5 minutes. In a separate small saucepan melt butter and whisk in flour, add beef broth to make a gravy. Slowly add gravy to cooked beef. Toss in peas.
Drain Potatoes. Place raw egg yolk & sour cream in a large bowl and mix & mash in Potatoes.
In a rectangular pan place meat mixture evenly on bottom. Plop mashed potato mixture on top. If desired you can sprinkle the top with either cheddar cheese (I just like to top the potatoes with paprika). Broil for 6-8 minutes until light brown.
