Travel Shows
Travel shows; for consumers and travel industry professionals are an important part of the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau marketing program to attract visitors to this area.
Our 2011 efforts kicked off this month with a booth at the Bay Area Travel Show in Santa Clara. Sandy Gordon, Marketing Director (shown below at our booth) along with volunteers from various Visitors Bureau members, including Black Oak Casino, staffed our booth at this event aimed at consumers and travel industry professionals.
In February and March we’ll be participating in 8 more shows. Sandy will head to Boise, ID in early February to attend the, “Go-West Summit” to meet with tour operators from around the world who bring visitors to the western US. I’ll be going to San Francisco and Sacramento to exhibit at two shows put on by Meeting Professionals International to entice meeting planners to bring their events to the Mother Lode. I’ll also be going to show in San Francisco put on by Group Leaders of America to reach out social group organizers.
In March, we’ll also be part of a delegation participating in the Los Angeles Times Travel show; one of the largest in southern CA as well some events outside the west. Nanci Sikes, our executive director will be going New York to attend a travel media show to encourage travel writers to talk about this region as a great place to visit. She’ll also be participating with the California Delegation at the International Travel Bureau Show in Berlin; the largest travel industry trade show in the world.
Trade and consumer shows allow us to reach thousands of people in a short period of time and are an extremely cost-effective way to build business for Tuolumne County. We know if we can get them here once, they’ll return which means more jobs and a more vibrant economy for all of us.
