A New Moment for Giving

You Give > We Give: A New Opportunity to Strengthen Tuolumne County Together

A New Moment for Giving

This year brings an important and exciting change. For the first time in years, individuals who do not itemize their taxes can now deduct charitable donations—up to $1,000 per person or $2,000 for couples filing jointly.

In other words, millions of Americans—and many right here in Tuolumne County—now have a new incentive to participate in philanthropy.

This is more than a tax change. It’s an opportunity: an opportunity to engage new donors, to expand the culture of giving, and to build a stronger, more resilient community.

Turning Opportunity into Impact

To help seize this moment, Sonora Area Foundation is proud to launch the You Give > We Give campaign—a $100,000 matching initiative designed to amplify local generosity.

Here’s how it works:

  • When you give to a Tuolumne County 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we match your donation
  • Up to $1,000 per individual or $2,000 per couple
  • 100% of your donation goes directly to the nonprofit you choose
  • No administrative fees. No percentage taken. Every dollar counts
  • Each nonprofit is eligible for up to $10,000 in matching funds
  • The campaign continues until the full $100,000 match is reached

This is about more than matching dollars—it’s about building momentum.

A Community Effort

At Sonora Area Foundation, we see every day how vital nonprofit organizations are to the health and well-being of Tuolumne County. From food security and youth programs to the arts, health services, and community development—local nonprofits are on the front lines of meeting real needs.

Tuolumne County has always been a place where neighbors show up for one another. The You Give > We Give campaign is simply an extension of that spirit—an invitation to come together and invest in the organizations that make our community stronger. The reality is simple—our local nonprofits depend on donations to survive and thrive. Unlike larger organizations in metropolitan areas, many Tuolumne County nonprofits operate with limited funding streams and rely heavily on the generosity of individuals right here in our community.

If you’ve never given before, this is your moment.

If you already give, this is your opportunity to do even more.

Together, we can ensure that the nonprofits serving Tuolumne County not only continue their work—but expand it, deepen it, and reach even more people.

Because when you give, we give—and our whole community benefits.
