Always the first Saturday of October: California ARTS Day. Join fellow citizens in a collective art experience that no one will soon forget… the handmade parade is a parade for anyone that wants to celebrate creativity and diversity in a non-political activity that fosters community involvement and creative expression. Described as a “walking theatrical performance”, our parade will also glow after dark! everyone and anyone is invited to participate and get busy building their small float, prop, or costume.
Our partners, MotherLode MakerLabs help us in this endeavor. They are a grassroots, community organization, consisting of Makers, Crafters, Hackers, Teachers, Designers and Engineers. Their goal is to create a local establishment where people can bring their ideas to life. They believe they can turn makers into entrepreneurs. They are hip to the Sharing Economy.
The Maker space is located on Baretta St. in the same building as TCA’s Office. There are Open Make opportunities so that you can check out what they offer, and what see you might want to make for the Parade.
Need some help with your costume or creation? The Makers can help! Bring your ideas! They can help with materials to make your costume or entry. Bring the entire family for OPEN MAKE NIGHTS. Please check their schedule. https://www.motherlodemakerlabs.com/events-calendar/
