The Mother Lode Art Association will host its 68th Fine Art Show and Exhibition at the Sonora Opera Hall April 7th through April 15th. The Sonora Opera Hall is located at 250 S. Washington Street, Sonora. The public is welcome at no charge.
Proceeds from entry fees, art sales, silent auction and raffle sales go to support art education in area schools.
Juried by renowned artists Andrea Morris and Carolyn Macpherson, the event will showcase works of local and regional artists. Also on display will be a selection of student art, selected from the Youth Art Show now on display at the Tuolumne County Library, art work by the Watch Resources Art Guild and Jamestown Ranch and award-winning photography from the Sonora Photo Club.
An opening reception will be held from 5pm to 8pm Friday, April 7, with an award presentation at 6pm. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided by the association and live music will be performed by the band Blue Oak. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in a raffle and silent auction. Our Grand Raffle prize is an original oil painting from our Best of Show winner last year, J. Conn, and as an additional bonus, a watercolor painting donated by Barbara Young, winner of two awards last year, will also be raffled.
The show will be open April 8th from 10am until 8pm and will feature an oil painting demonstration by renowned artist, Heinie Hartwig, from 1pm-4pm. The show will also be opened Easter Sunday from 10am-3pm.
The City of Sonora and Visit Tuolumne will celebrate Art Week from April 10th through April 16th and as a registered participant, the Mother Lode Art Association, will continue showing the 68th Fine Art Show and Exhibition 10am-7pm daily through April 15th. Many exciting events have been planned during Art Week on the Opera Hall stage and also plein air artists painting throughout the city.

April 12th, 10am-7pm. Music by Doo-Wop 5:30pm
April 13th 10am-7pm. Music by Harp and Harp (Renee Anderson) 4-6 pm
April 14th 10am-7pm. Print making by Lindsey 5pm
April 15th, 10am-7pm. Oil painting demo by Charis Hernandez 12pm-2pm, Sincerely Doo-wop 2pm-4pm, Art using recycled materials by Marti James 4pm-6pm
