The annual First Friday Concert in the Park series, hosted by Murphys Community Club, starts  June 2nd with local band StarDogs featuring a local favorite Brian Jirka, and professional touring musicians Scott Moughton and Rick Deputy. Their high-energy, dance-driven music primarily focuses on 70’s groove music, with Jirka’s original music and some modern sounds blended in. The band was booked a year ago and is sure to bring some great energy!

The BabyBacks are a dance band with a huge repertoire, spanning the 1940’s to the 2000’s.  We play blues, rock, Motown, swing, jazz, funk and even a little country swing – we love playing a little something for everyone, says Jenny Roland and are happy to be back in Murphys Park .

Starting at 5 p.m., a pulled pork dinner with tasty sides will be available on site from Murphys Historic Hotel.

The Park’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) permit prohibits the bringing of wine or liquor into the Park but wine and beer will be available with the proceeds going to the Murphys Community Club and back to the Park.  Each event will have a community sponsor with Murphys Business Association sponsoring our June concert and wines for June donated by Newsome Harlow.  Smokin’ Hot Meats n Treats will provide a $15 meal of brisket, chicken, mac n cheese, arugula salad, roll & butter.

Additional events in Murphys Park will include CWA’s infamous Grape Stomp on October 7th and Murphys Community Club’s 2nd annual Murphys Park Oktoberfest on October 14th.  Saturday, November 4th is Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead sponsored by Murphys Business Association.

There is no admission charge and ample free parking is available nearby.  Donations to help maintain the Park are always gratefully received.
