This fascinating talk will deepen our understanding of many of the geological formations observed in our section of the legendary “Mother Lode.”
Many of you might remember Jeff’s popular STCHS presentation from nine years ago, titled **“Gold.”** At that time, the prior community center was packed as he explained the science behind the natural processes and forces that shaped the Mother Lode region.
Dr. Tolhurst holds a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, in geology and geoscience education. Hi has taught Earth Sciences and Geospatial Technology at Columbia College for 26 years. Having experienced earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, droughts, and severe weather firsthand, he retired about three years ago but continues to enrich his understanding of our incredible planet.
