Help PAWS Raise $75,000 in 24 Hours!
Gifts Will Be Matched to $21,500
Big Day of Giving, the annual 24-hour online giving challenge for Sacramento area non-profits, starts on Thursday, May 4th. But you can get a head start on giving.
Our goal is to raise $75,000 in 24 hours to care for the elephants, tigers, bears, monkeys, and other wild animals who live at PAWS’ ARK 2000 sanctuary. Our animals are rescued or retired from roadside zoos, circuses and the exotic “pet” trade.
Early Giving Begins April 20th!
Big Day of Giving starts at midnight on May 4th and ends at 11:59 p.m. but you can make your contribution now! Early donations count towards our total and will be added to the leaderboard on the day of the event. Minimum donation is $15; all major credit cards are accepted. We need your help because providing lifetime refuge, expert care, and sprawling natural habitats for captive wild animals in need is expensive. It costs about:
• $200 a day to care for just one of our 7 elephants. (That’s $75,000 a year per elephant!)
• $55 a day (or $20,000/year) to provide a more natural life for just one of our tigers.
• $50 a day (or $18,000/year) to keep just one of our bears healthy and content.
• $15-$30 a day ($5,000-$10,000/year) to look after one of our smaller sanctuary residents, like a Capuchin monkey, muntjac or emu.
That’s more than $800,000 a year to care for the animals at PAWS. Costs can rise considerably for elderly or special needs animals.
Act Quickly and Double Your Donation!
Thanks to generous friends of PAWS, all Big Day of Giving contributions will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $21,500! Your gift will go twice as far for the animals:
• $15 will be doubled to $30.
• $50 will be doubled to $100.
• If you can donate an extra generous $100, it will be matched and doubled to $200!

Anyone can donate, regardless of where you are located. Contributions made via credit card through PAWS’ Big Day of Giving donation site gives our organization the chance to win financial prizes throughout the 24-hour event.

Call PAWS’ office at 209-745-2606, Mon.-Fri., between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Pacific Time) to charge your donation. Be sure to tell our staff that your donation is for Big Day of Giving.
