Dancers from the Studio 4 School of Dance will perform dance numbers in a variety of dance styles the first weekend in May at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. Dancers are excited to welcome the public once again to the beloved Studio 4 Dance Theater Spring Showcase.
Dance genres that will excite the crowd include jazz, contemporary, hip hop and ballet. Studio 4 School of Dance and Studio 4 Dance Theater have a long history going back 18 years in Calaveras County when Tammie Lee first opened the dance studio.
Artistic Director Tammie Lee is pleased to continue the tradition of showcasing the various dance styles that Studio 4 School of Dance offers to the community. The Spring Showcase features choreographer, former school of dance student and current instructor Iris Stafford, in a youth contemporary dance to the song “Crystals” by Of Monsters and Men. Current dance student Stacia Sharp has choreographed a Jazz dance to the song “Luck be a Lady” by Frank Sinatra and Ashley Hancock, also a current student, is doing a Jazz number to “Axeman Jazz” by Squirrel Nut Zippers. In addition, Sarah Long will present contemporary, hip hop and jazz dances. Tammie Lee will showcase two traditional ballet pieces, including a youth ballet piece from Cinderella.
“The spring showcase is a refreshing show that highlights our youth in Calaveras County,” expressed Artistic Director Tammie Lee. “We get to see the next generation of dancers and our seasoned dancers express their love for dance, it is sure to impress the audience!”
