Comedian Liz Grant to headline at Wine and Whimsy on February 8th, 2020
Liz Grant, a Bay Area comedian will let loose at Wine and Whimsy on February 8th at The Metropolitan in San Andreas. The event, presented by Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, promises to provide an evening of laughter, friendship and wine while benefiting the many local Soroptimist programs.
Soroptimists present education and training awards for women, career support for girls and promote health by offering free lipid panel screenings to Calaveras County women for the entire month of February in partnership with Dignity Health Mark Twain Medical Centers.
This year’s Wine and Whimsy will bring the hilarity to the historic Metropolitan. Originally a hotel, The Met was built at the base of Main Street in San Andreas in 1859. A fire consumed the building in 1926, and in its place a movie theater was constructed in the early 1950s. It was later renovated as a dining hall and performance venue.
Rumor has it that Mark Twain found his inspiration for The Jumping Frog right in the Metropolitan’s luxurious bar-room.
Wine and Whimsy tickets are now available on-line at http://visitcalaverascounty.org or by calling 209-753-9700. Admission, including a no-host bar and light appetizers, is $45. Doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:30.
