Disney’s live action retelling of its 1967 animated hit (loosely based on Rudyard Kipling’s source material) where Mowgli (10 year old Neel Sethi) the “man-cub” being raised by wolves and a kindly panther (voiced by Ben Kingsley), are forced to leave because of the vengeful Bengal tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba). They encounter the python Kaa (Scarlett Johansson) and King Louie (Christopher Walken) and then things finally get amusing when Baloo, the carefree bear (Bill Murray) shows up.
“It’s a vibrant, notably intense and powerful family movie. Although deservingly rated PG, there are parts that approach “Lord of the Rings” movie levels of intensity.” -SFGate –Peter Hartlaub
“…transporting you to its primeval jungle setting, the pic concludes, at the very end of the lengthy final credits, with the cheeky note, “Filmed in Downtown Los Angeles.” -The Hollywood reporter –Todd McCarthy
