Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is an astronaut who gets stranded on Mars during a storm, where he struggles to survive on one month of food. Mark cannibalizes everything he can, carefully apportions his rations in a claustrophobic, dire and lonely situation. Back on Earth it is assumed Mark is dead until a sharp-eyed NASA technician notices something amiss but is it worth the high risk of going back just for one man?
