What is your favorite thing about being an emergency physician?
In medical school, I loved all of the rotations and did not want to exclude anything. In the emergency room I get to care for kids, geriatric patients, cancer patients, trauma patients – I see it all and it’s always interesting. I build intense relationships with my patients, even though our interactions are short, and I get to make a small difference in people’s lives at a critical moment. I also like the schedule. When I’m working, I work really hard. When I’m off, I get to enjoy my family without interruption.
