Sonora Regional Medical Center recently won an award on quality. What does that mean for patients?
Sonora Regional Medical Center has won several awards. One was from the Joint Commission for being in the top 18 percent of hospitals by having all of our Joint Commission quality indicators above 95 percent. Not only was the hospital above the 95 percent benchmark for the award, but we were actually above 97 percent. We also got an award from Partnership for Patients as one of 50 out of 450 hospitals. This award deals with the quality of care given to patients as well as the prevention of accidents or injuries—such as falls—patients might encounter. To get awards for two different sets of quality measures shows that we’re not solely focused on publicly reported measures, but on other important patient safety areas as well.
