Fatal house fire in the Phoenix Lake area of Tuolumne County—TCFD photo
Update at 2:45 p.m.: We have an update on a fatal house fire, dubbed the View Fire, in the Phoenix Lake area of Tuolumne County. Sheriff’s officials have released the name of the deceased. He is 38-year-old David Jacklich, who is a resident of the house. CAL FIRE firefighters discovered his body while they were clearing the home. They added, “This case is currently under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.”
Sheriff’s officials confirmed to Central Sierra Broadcasting that Jacklich was arrested last week for felony assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats after an alleged unprovoked attack on another man at the Grocery Outlet store parking lot in Sonora off Mono Way, as reported here. Original post at 2:10 p.m.: Phoenix Lake, CA – CAL Fire is investigating a house fire, named the View Fire, last night in the Phoenix Lake area of Tuolumne County that turned deadly.
No information has been released regarding the deceased person. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that when crews arrived at the scene after 6:15 p.m., in the 20000 block of Lower Hillview Drive, near Hillview Court, west of the Phoenix Reservoir, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Crews were able to knock down the fire and then completed overhaul operations into the night. Kilgore added, “The cause of the blaze is under investigation.” We have reached out to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office for details on the victim, but they have yet to respond. An update will be provided when new information comes into the newsroom.
