There are many events planned for the second weekend of July. First, on Friday, Sierra Bible Church in Sonora presents the second outdoor concert and food truck night of the Summer. The event is from 5 – 8 PM on the lower lawn at Sierra Bible Church and will feature music by the Lack Family. Local food trucks will be on site including Kona Ice of Calaveras, Sonora Taqueria, Mike’s Pizza of Sonora and several more.
Friday is Movie Night in at the Tuolumne Branch Library hosted by Tuolumne Parks and Recreation District. This Friday the movie shown is The Lorax at 8:30 PM with free admission supported by concession stand sales, bench seating is available, or bring your beach chairs and blankets for the grass seating area. 5th Annual ‘Back To School Bash’ along with ‘Touch-A-Truck’ will be held at Cover’s Apple Ranch. The event is hosted by the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center as detailed here.
The UCCE Tuolumne County Master Gardeners will be holding an Open Garden Day at the Demonstration Garden on Saturday from 10 AM – 1 PM. They will discuss irrigation at 10:30 AM with free compost available at the garden located at South Barretta Street in Sonora, on the Cassina High School Campus.
The Sonora Chamber of Commerce is hosting Second Saturday Art Night from 5 – 8 PM in downtown Sonora. Both sides of Washington Street will be filled with music, paintings, artists and merchant specials. Aloft Art Gallery will have music by Harp and Harp, a meet up with artists Linda Webb and Lynn Slade and an art demonstration as detailed here. You can also get your groove on at Courthouse Park. A free Dance Party is open to all, expect light-up and twirly things and people in funky glad rags moving to the beat. The family friendly event from from 6 – 8 PM.
Sierra Senior Providers will host Lunch and Bingo, usually held on the first Saturday it was rescheduled to this weekend due to the holiday. This Saturday lunch will be served at 11:30 AM, followed by bingo, sign-up at the Sonora Senior Center front desk as detailed here. There will also be Bingo at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora. The event will also include a luncheon from 12 – 4 PM in the Parish Hall. The fundraiser is to help send St. Patrick’s youth group to a conference as detailed here.
The Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 2026 Summer Concert Series at Eproson Park, every Saturday night from 6 – 8 PM. This Saturday The Blowbacks will perform, view the event listing here for the list of musicians featured this season. The concerts are free, bring your chairs and picnics, but blankets are not allowed on the lawn. Later in the evening at 8 PM nearby at Local Press, Jackton Aberdeen and Friends will perform. Fresh produce, handmade goods, unique treasures from local farmers, artisans, and young entrepreneurs will be found at local farmers’ markets: The Twain Harte Mountain Air Market continues weekly on Thursdays from 4 to 7 PM at Eproson Park. Tonight is music by Gary Souza. This Friday is the Angels Camp Farmers’ Market from 4:30 to 7:30 PM at Utica Park. Saturday morning the Sonora Farmers Market will be open from 7:30 – 11 AM.
Friends of the Animal Community (FOAC) will be hosting a Kitty Adoption Day with a half off adoption fee. The event is from 10 AM – 2 PM as detailed here.
Inner Sanctum Cellars is hosting two free shows, Friday at 6 PM Scott Patrick with indie-folk/country melodies of the Nashville-honed multi-instrumentalist and acoustic singer-songwriter Stephanie Baker on Sunday from 1 to 3 PM.
Sierra Reparatory Theater is performing “Don’t Touch That Dial!” a musical comedy with TV theme songs and mayhem at the Fallon House location in Columbia through July 19.

Calaveras County Arts Council presents the Music in the Parks Summer Concert Series at a different park each week. Next week, Wednesday July 15 from 6:30 PM until 8, bring your favorite food, beverages, blankets and lawn chairs to the free Nathan Ignacio performance at Mountain Ranch Park.
The festival tent is going up for the Bear Valley Music Festival, concerts starts next Friday and continue though August 2.
