Tuolumne County, CA—A little Modesto girl’s tragic drowning at Lake Don Pedro on Saturday now has Tuolumne County Sheriff officials requesting any photos and videos that visitors may have taken before, during, and after the tragic incident.
As we reported here, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 3:34 p.m., the sheriff’s dispatch was notified that a three-year-old child was missing and may have drowned in the Fleming Meadows Lagoon at Lake Don Pedro. When deputies arrived, they found witnesses giving CPR to the girl and took over.
“Despite the quick response and efforts of bystanders, deputies, firefighters, and medics, the child could not be revived. She was pronounced deceased before she could be transported by air to a higher level of medical care,” disclosed sheriff’s officials.
The little girl was not wearing a life jacket. Investigators are now turning to the public for further information on this incident and have provided what they are seeking from anyone who was at the lake in the afternoon:
- Photos or videos that may show the child on a raft or boat with other children. A photo of the raft we believe to be involved in this incident is attached to the post.
- Witnesses who may have seen the child before she was pulled out of the water.
