Update #1: Most Dove Fire Evacuations Lifted

Update at 11:55 a.m.: CAL FIRE TCU reports that, along with the Tuolumne County Fire Department, Tuolumne County Sheriff, City of Sonora Fire Department, and Sonora Police Department, have confirmed that damaged and destroyed structures are within the Dove Fire perimeter. They added, “Inspections are taking place, and details will be released when finalized. As repopulation continues, it is important to remember that firefighters, equipment, utility workers, and contractors are working in the area. Use caution when driving in previously closed areas, and if you identify safety concerns or hazards, please report them.”

Update at 11:39 a.m.: The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has issued a major update to the evacuations in the Dove Fire burning in Sonora.

Deputies will be patrolling the areas under evacuation throughout the day as fire personnel continue to work.

Original post 7:54 a.m.: Sonora, CA – The Dove Fire containment jumped overnight from 40 percent to 55 percent this morning.

The acreage is holding steady at 226 acres. CAL FIRE reports that firefighters took advantage of cooler temperatures overnight and were able to increase containment. They added, “Smoke from isolated pockets of heat well within the fire’s perimeter may be visible to the community; however, expanding the depth of the fireline and mop-up are a focus of crews as work to achieve full containment continues.”

Additionally, damaged utilities are being repaired, and inspections are in progress. McKibbon Drive, Martha Lane, and Outlook Drive, in addition to the residences and businesses on the north side of Stockton Road east of Nancy Hope, are no longer under evacuation warnings. Deputies will continue to patrol areas under evacuation orders throughout the night.
