Update: Vehicle And Vegetation Fire In Calaveras County Forward Rate Stopped
Update at 4:20 p.m.: CAL Fire reports that both Highway 49 and Gold Strike Roads have completely reopened. (Further details on the fire are below.) The fire has been contained, and the size has been updated to 25 acres.
Update at 4:11 p.m.: CAL Fire reports the fire is 25 acres and the forward rate of spread has been stopped. No structures are threatened. Highway 49 continues to be closed between Highway 12 and Gold Strike Road and a section of Gold Strike between Highway 49 and San Andreas is also shutdown.
Update at 3:40 p.m.: CAL Fire report the fire is 20 acres in size. Highway 49 has been closed between Highway 12 and Gold Strike Road.

Original post at 3:10 p.m.: San Andreas, CA — Fire resources are battling a vehicle fire and vegetation fire in Calaveras County on Highway 49 at Highway 12 near San Andreas.
CAL Fire was originally called to a vehicle that had flipped on its roof and caught on fire. The flames spread to some nearby vegetation. There are no details on the fire’s size or the flame’s rate of spread or whether any structures are threatened at this time. The CHP has been called in to close Gold Strike Road between Highway 49 and San Andreas to traffic. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the newsroom.
