Post, Robert
Robert John Post was born July 17, 1931, in Berkeley and passed away March 19, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Tuolumne.
Bob grew up in Grass Valley and served in the United States Navy from 1949-1953 on a battleship during the Korean War. He married Doris Noel in 1955. He was a patrolman with the San Leandro Police Department, including being the original sharpshooter on the first SWAT team. He retired in 1985 and moved to Twain Harte. Doris passed away in 1996. Bob loved the Sierra mountains and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, and wood cutting. He spent many hours fishing on his boat with his beloved German Shepherds – Sadie, Sophie, and Rachel. He shot trap for many years (until 2021) with the Angels Gun Club and Motherload Gun Club. Bob is survived by his daughters Linda Post and Sheri Buchanan (husband James), son Patrick Post, grandchildren Corrin Zimmerman and Dustin Zimmerman, and great-grandson Teddy Zimmerman. His eldest son Michael Post passed away in 2016, leaving his wife Edna (passed 2019) and stepdaughters Star, Judy, and Julie. There will be a military memorial on April 30, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Carter’s Cemetery, 19042 Cemetery Lane, Tuolumne, with a celebration of life following. In leu of flowers, donations can be sent to Angels Gun Club (Youth Team), PO Box 842, Angels Camp, CA 95222. Terzich & Wilson is handling the cremation.
