Yosemite National Park, CA — High winds and an abundance of rain played havoc with much of the Mother Lode over the weekend, but Yosemite was blessed with a bountiful snowfall.
Depending on the elevation, Park Ranger Adrienne Freeman says the Park received up to as much as 60 inches of snow.
At 4,000 feet Yosemite Valley is greeting visitors with four inches of snow and a crystal clear Monday.
Freeman does, however, warn hikers in the back country of a very high avalanche potential. A warm front first brought rain and then the weather turned very cold causing a heavy snow load to form on some very insecure snow.
