“We invite students, staff, and the entire Tuolumne County community to engage with these powerful, thought-provoking documentaries that explore Black culture and lived experiences,” said Kristina Miro, Professor of Child Development at Columbia College. “We welcome our community to join us on campus to learn, reflect, and deepen their understanding of the many dimensions of Black history and its lasting impact.”

“Each year, Columbia College serves more than 4,000 students, and our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths,” shared Dr. Chad Redwing, Columbia College Interim President. “We proudly open our doors to the broader community to recognize Black History Month as a celebration of history and a reaffirmation of our commitment to inclusivity. We invite the community to see Columbia College as a hub for meaningful dialogue, learning, and shared growth.”

In addition to Black History Month programming, the Cultural Enrichment Committee regularly hosts film screenings and events throughout the year celebrating AAPI Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and other cultural observances.
