Copperopolis, CA — A truck driver is dead following an accident that closed O´Byrnes Ferry Road for several hours yesterday.
CHP says the driver of a Boblitt Company big rig plunged into Lake Tulloch when the truck went over a guardrail on the bridge.
Reports indicate that the truck and driver were submerged in 40 to 50 feet of water for a long period of time.
CHP Spokesman Tom Wills says the truck was eventually hoisted out of the water and the driver was removed from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the driver has not been released pending the notification of family members.
