Sacramento, CA — The former head of a state crime-fighting agency and a former county supervisor were sentenced to federal detention Tuesday for their roles in a San Joaquin County corruption case that brought down the county´s sheriff.

Allen Sawyer, the former executive director of the Governor´s Office of Criminal Justice Planning, was sentenced to six months in federal prison, six months of home confinement, and fined $20,000 for mail fraud.

Former San Joaquin County Supervisor Lynn Bedford was sentenced to six months of home detention and fined four-thousand dollars for lying to federal officers.

Sawyer was a secret partner with then-Sheriff Baxter Dunn in pushing for a power plant at the Port of Stockton in return for a commission of up to $2 million.
