Fire Season 2001 is in its infancy but already there´s been several grass fires, many caused by lawnmower
use. CDF/Tuolumne Fire Inspector Richard Imlach says Motherlode residents shouldn´t use lawnmowers on dry grass. Normally, the lawnmower´s blade can
strike a rock, causing a spark and igniting the grass.

Imlach says lawnmowers should be used on green grass only. If you need to trim dry grass, do it
with a weed trimmer and don´t do it during the hours of 10am and 6pm.
