A Santa Ana jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the death of a 12 year old Orange County boy whose body was dismembered and buried in concrete.
The jury of seven women and five men took a day to convict John Samuel Ghobrial. He faces a possible death sentence when the penalty phase of the trial begins tomorrow.
Ghobrial was found guilty of committing a lewd act with sixth grader Juan Delgado in March of 1998 before killing him.
The verdict was handed down today after months of trial delays, which included a delay because defense attorneys feared the Egyptian immigrant would be unable to get a fair trial following the terrorism attacks.
