Testimony began to focus on Cary Stayner today, as prosecutors introduced evidence of events that
followed the disappearance of three Yosemite sightseers, later found slain two years ago. At a preliminary hearing in a Mariposa courtroom, prosecutors are
trying to build a foundation to bring murder charges against Stayner for the murders of Carol and Juli Sund and Sylvina Pelosso.
Stayner is already
serving a lifetime prison sentence for slaying Yosemite Park naturalist Joie Armstrong two years ago.
Stayner could get the death penalty if convicted of
the tourist slayings.
