Majority of Californians Support Life-Ending Medication
SACRAMENTO (AP) __ A poll released today shows that a large majority of Californians support the idea of allowing terminally ill patients to take their own life under the supervision of a doctor.
A survey by the Field Poll says that 70 percent of Californians support the idea that “incurably ill patients have the right to ask for and get life-ending medication.” The poll found 22 percent opposed. The results are consistent with other surveys taken by the Field Poll over the last 25 years. The poll was released as two state lawmakers introduced a bill that would legalize doctor-assisted suicide for terminally ill patients. The survey was conducted among 503 adults during the ten-day period ending early last week.
