Update at 12:43 p.m.: A PG&E crew is making progress on the downtown Sonora power outage that stretched from Highway 108 along both sides of Washington Street/Highway 49 and to Shaws Flat Road, including Stockton Street and the Race Track Road area. Initially, 1,864 customers were without lights around 11:30 a.m. The utility reports that number has dropped to 68 customers, mostly in the Racetrack Road area. Company spokesperson Jeff Smith tells Central Sierra Broadcasting that a crew rerouted most customers to neighboring circuits to turn their lights back on. He added that the cause of the outage is still being investigated. The restoration time for this outage is 4:45 p.m.:
Original post at 12:03 p.m.: Sonora, CA—Nearly 2,000 PG&E customers are without power in the downtown area of Sonora as their electricity went out around 11:30 a.m.
The outage stretches from Highway 108 along both sides of Washington Street/Highway 49 and to Shaws Flat Road, including Stockton Street and the Race Track Road area. The utility reports that 1,864 customers have lost power. They note that a crew “is evaluating the electrical system to identify damaged sections and make necessary repairs in order to safely turn the power back on.”
The company says the restoration time is to be determined.
