Park Anniversary and Big Band Street Dance, California State Parks celebrate 77 years of preserving Columbia State Historic Park which contains some of California’s best Gold Rush era buildings.
Columbia State Historic Park, a well-preserved nugget of California’s vibrant Gold Rush days, was founded back in 1946 and has since been a cherished site of cultural and historical heritage. This year, the park’s anniversary celebration includes a throwback to the music-filled streets of the 1940s when the park was first established.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Friends of Columbia State Historic Park, the event will feature the mesmerizing sounds of Rod Harris and his Orchestra, renowned for their 1940s era music. So, dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to boogie down Main St. Columbia in a night filled with music, nostalgia, and celebration!
For those who love a bit of friendly competition, put your dancing and dress-up skills to the test for our dance and costume contest. Show off your best swing, jive, or lindy hop moves and 1940s inspired outfits for a chance to win fabulous prizes.
Adding to the festivities will be a silent auction, providing an opportunity to bid on a range of exciting items and experiences. Remember to bring your own chairs to ensure your comfort throughout the event.
While admission to the event is entirely free, for those looking to enhance their experience, we are offering VIP tables for four at $100 each. This is a prime opportunity to secure the best spot on Main St, enjoy exclusive perks, and truly immerse yourself in the splendor of the night.
Whether you’re a history buff, a fan of the big band era, or simply looking for a unique and entertaining evening out, this event is not to be missed! To reserve VIP tables or for more information, visit the events page at https://friendsofcolumbiashp.com/
