In partnership with the California State Railroad Museum Foundation, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown is excited to offer a special evening Star-Spangled Steam Train ride behind the famous Sierra No. 3® on the 4th of July. Train ride guests will enjoy a spirited journey through history and American heritage. Complete with festive and patriotic music performed by Cordial Singers on the passenger deck starting at 7:30 p.m., the family-friendly celebration will also include free lemonade and popcorn, while supplies last. To add to the fun, tables will be filled with colorful Glo-Stick accessories to shine brightly during the 45-minute train ride through the scenic and historic Mother Lode Gold Country. A treat in itself, the world-famous “Movie Star Locomotive”* will pull the special Star-Spangled Steam Train; doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the train departs at 8:30 p.m.
Plus, the community is encouraged to plan a full day at the Park to enjoy a tour of the historic roundhouse and shops, enjoy a family picnic, and/or leisurely stroll around the grounds. With spring/summer hours in effect, the Park will be open starting at 9:30 a.m. on 4th of July for self-guided or docent-led tours along with exhibits that include interpretive signage.
Visitors are encouraged to purchase Star-Spangled Steam Train tickets online in advance. If still available on the day of the train ride, tickets can be purchased at the Depot Store on a first-come, first-served basis. All paid train ride tickets include Park admission and cost $28 for adults, $21 for youth ages 6-17, $18 for members, and are free for children five and under.
