Gavin Newsom and his fellow Democrats are attempting to thwart the will of the people when it comes to new taxes including those disguised as regulatory fees by trying to remove the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act from next year’s ballot. This ballot measure would require a majority of voters to approve taxes adopted by the Legislature and require that tax dollars levied for a specific purpose are spent only on that specific project or program. It’s another case of “We’re the government, don’t tell us how to spend your money.”
