Valley Springs, CA — Firefighters have reached a milestone, reaching 100% containment on the Gann Fire in the Valley Springs area.
It ignited on Monday, August 3, near Hogan Dam Road and Gann Road. The fire reached 10,339 acres. CAL Fire reports that 48 structures were destroyed and three more were damaged. There was one fatality.
65-year-old Herbert Wayne Smith was arrested for allegedly recklessly starting the fire, using a saw to cut scraps.
Repair and restoration work in the area is ongoing.
