Late Night Construction Work

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County Public Works is helping to coordinate various construction projects this month, including the law and justice center infrastructure and the Comcast Cable upgrade.

Public Works Engineer Bill McKenzie says that crews will be working periodically late at night over the next month, in order to avoid the busy traffic hours.

The first project will start Wednesday night near the intersection of Greenley Road and Morningstar Drive. Crews hired by Comcast will be making infrastructure upgrades as part of the plans to offer internet and expanded cable service by late this year throughout much of the county. The work will span past the Forest Service building and down to the City limits of Sonora. Crews will also soon install the infrastructure for the new Tuolumne County Law and Justice Center. Work will span along Greenley Road, past Mono Way, and over to the project site on Old Wards Ferry Road.

McKenzie notes that crews will primarily be working from 7pm-3am. “We’re trying to get all of these utilities in, and cause the least amount of inconvenience to the traveling public,” he adds. Delays are expected to be minimal because of the off peak driving periods. There will be posted speed signs, and motorists are urged to drive with caution.

The work is in addition to the widening project on Greenley Road and installation of a new entrance to Sonora Elementary School.
