Toni Marie (Rodriguez) Juhl, 75, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 14. Toni was born in Sonora on May 17, 1950. She attended Sonora Elementary School and Sonora High School. While in high school, she was a cheerleader and an honor student. She was Mother Lode Roundup Queen in 1968. While at the California State Rodeo, representing Tuolumne County, she was chosen Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic. During her working career, she was registrar at Sonora Elementary and Sonora High. She often took struggling students under her wing. She was a medical transcriber for many years, owning her own business. She retired from Sierra Conservation Center in 2010. She loved living on the family ranch in Rawhide Flat. Watching the breeze make waves through the grass in the field and the smell of tar weed in the morning were special favorites. Toni was preceded in death by her father, Raymond (Bumpy) Rodriguez; her mother, Betty (Shell) Rodriguez; and a stillborn sister, Rori Marie. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jeff Juhl; her children, Jami Hirdes (Grant), of Oakdale, and Jay Juhl (Janelle), of Santa Rosa; five grandchildren, Grady and Bodi Hirdes, Henry Juhl and Mary and Lauren Taylor; brothers Jim and Ron (Jodi), of Sonora; aunt Lora Shell, of Chico; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Toni will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her ability to light up a room. She will forever live in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A celebration of life to follow at the Sonora Elks Lodge.
