Sonora, CA — The Highway Patrol, with assistance from members of the Sonora Police Department, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint tonight, near Sonora.
CHP Drug Recognition Experts will be on site to provide on the spot assessments of drivers suspected of drug use.
The officers will also be equipped with state of the art hand held breath testing devices, which help provide an accurate measurement of blood alcohol concentrations of suspected drunk drivers.
The checkpoint will be operated from 8:00pm to 2:00am.
CHP Commander Mike Ayala says motorists who drink and drive will be arrested, and those who operate their vehicles without the privilege to do so can expect to be cited and possibly have their vehicles impounded.
