Dimond-O Campground Recognized For Fishing Opportunities
Sonora, Ca — The Dimond-O Campground in the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest has been chosen by Reserve America as one of the Top 50 campgrounds for fishing in 2008.
?Dimond-O offers a great opportunity for trout fishing,? says Pat Kaunert, Information Officer with the Stanislaus National Forest. ?The Middle Fork of the Tuolumne River wraps right around the campground and it offers great access.?
Originally a Boy Scout Camp established in the 1930´s, the Dimond-O Campground has recently been renovated and now features paved interior roads, and paved parking pads for recreational camping vehicles and tent parking.
Kaunert says that there is great fishing all throughout the Stanislaus National Forest, not just at Dimond-O. ?We´re getting reports that fishing in the Stanislaus is quite good, even this late in the season. We were concerned about possible low levels at some of the rivers, but it looks like the levels are holding pretty well at this point in time.?
Kaunert says that the most common types of fish throughout the Stanislaus are Brook Trout, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. The majority of the campgrounds are first come-first served.
